Nurses: Professional Associations

  • Russian-American Medical Association (R-AMA) was created to facilitate and enable Russian American physicians and other health care professionals to excel in patient care, teaching and research, and to pursue their aspirations in professional, humanitarian and community affairs. Any individual who is a lawful resident of the United States or Canada, who supports the purposes of the organization and who pays their dues can become a member of R-AMA.

  • American Nurses Association is the only full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.7 million registered nurses (RNs) through its 54 constituent member associations. The ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.

  • American Association of Nurse Anesthetics Founded in 1931, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) is the professional association representing more than 30,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) nationwide. The AANA promulgates education, and practice standards and guidelines, and affords consultation to both private and governmental entities regarding nurse anesthetists and their practice. The AANA Foundation supports the profession through award of education and research grants to students, faculty and practicing CRNAs.

  • American Association of Critical-Care Nurses is the largest specialty nursing organization in the world, representing the interests of more than 400,000 nurses who are charged with the responsibility of caring for the most critically ill patients. The association is dedicated to providing our members with the knowledge and resources necessary to provide optimal care to critically ill patients. In addition to publishing a monthly newsletter, AACN publishes a scientific research journal, a clinical magazine for the practicing nurse, and a quarterly series for advanced practice nurses.

  • American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) is a national non-profit membership organization headquartered in Washington, DC. The ACNP is focused on advocacy and keeping NPs current on legislative, regulatory and clinical practice issues that effect NPs in the rapidly changing health care arena. The mission of the College is to unite and represent, politically and professionally, nurse practitioners across the United States and its territories.

  • National Nurses in Business Association is the only existing National organization designed to unite nurse entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs across the United States and Canada. The National Nurses in Business Association is a membership organization dedicated to providing unsurpassed support, education, and networking opportunities for nurses in non-traditional employment, self-employment, and business.

  • International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA) is a professional specialty organization founded in 1975 for nurses committed to the prevention, intervention, treatment, and management of addictive disorders including alcohol and other drug dependencies, nicotine dependencies, eating disorders, dual and multiple diagnosis, and process addictions such as gambling. Its goal is to help nurses provide comprehensive, high-quality nursing care for addicted patients and their families.
